Motherwell striker Apostolos Stamatelopoulos has returned home to join A-League side Sydney FC on loan until the end of the season as he eyes a place in Australia's World Cup squad. The 26-year-old, who moved to Fir Park from Newcastle Jets in summer 2024, has netted seven goals in 27 appearances this season but has started none of the past eight league games. Motherwell's Tawanda Maswanhise is the Premiership's top scorer this season and the club further added to their striker options by signing Eythor Bjorgolfsson last month.
